When Does a Floor Need Buffing, Scrubbing, or Full Refinishing?

The answer depends on the floor and the condition of its finish. Light dullness may respond to buffing or burnishing. Embedded soil and traffic lanes may require machine scrubbing. Finish that is badly worn, uneven, contaminated, or no longer protecting the floor may require stripping and refinishing.

Atlas does not prescribe a full strip and wax based only on square footage. During the walkthrough, we review visible wear, edge buildup, prior finish, floor type, occupied hours, furniture, access, and the result the facility is trying to achieve.

Do all vinyl floors need to be stripped and waxed?

No. The correct process depends on the flooring product and the finish already in place. Atlas identifies the floor and reviews its condition before recommending treatment.

Can floor work be scheduled after business hours?

Often, yes. Scheduling depends on access, noise restrictions, security procedures, project size, and the drying or curing time required before traffic resumes.

Do you move furniture and equipment?

Movement responsibilities are established during the walkthrough. Light movable items may be handled within the agreed scope; heavy equipment, sensitive electronics, displays, and fixed items may require preparation by the facility or another qualified provider.

Can floor care be added to recurring janitorial service?

Yes. Periodic projects can be coordinated with a recurring cleaning plan when the facility needs both routine janitorial work and scheduled floor maintenance.

Do you guarantee every stain, scratch, or damaged area will disappear?

No. Cleaning and refinishing can improve appearance, but permanent staining, deep scratches, worn material, moisture damage, adhesive failure, and other substrate conditions may remain. Atlas discusses visible limitations before work begins.
